City Network, a leading European supplier of cloud services based on OpenStack, has announced the appointment of Jean-Philippe Evrard as its new chief technology officer (CTO). In parallel, Kinh Luan Nguyen has been named chief security officer (CSO) for the rapidly growing digital infrastructure company. With vast and deep knowledge of open source, security and cloud, both individuals will become members of the City Network management team and play an essential role in the continuous growth and internationalization of the company.
“I am excited that we are adding two more highly talented individuals to the City Network team. They will both play a key role as we continue to build and elevate our European and compliant infrastructure services that accelerate digital transformation and innovation,” says Johan Christenson, CEO and founder of City Network.
As the new CTO of City Network overseeing the company’s entire cloud service portfolio and heading product and service innovation, Jean-Philippe Evrard and his team of developers will be central to the company’s future growth. Being active in open source and a long-term member of the OpenStack community leadership, Jean-Philippe is a well-known name in the open source community. Before City Network, he was working at SUSE at different levels, ranging from software engineer in OpenStack or Kubernetes to incubation architect, finding or creating cutting edge areas for SUSE growth. Before that, he worked at Rackspace (the birthplace of OpenStack), and in the telecom or banking industries.
“I am thrilled to join the talented team at City Network. The combination of openness and strict compliance in the cloud may sound like a tricky equation. However, it is precisely this combination that companies across Europe need to successfully manage the transition to the cloud without losing control of their innovation or data. In this field, City Network is leading the industry,” says Jean-Philippe Evrard.
As the CSO of City Network, Kinh Luan Nguyen will oversee and further develop all aspects of IT security and compliance at City Network. This includes both enhancements and developments to the security of the company’s public and compliant cloud and further elevation of internal IT security know-how. Luan has extensive experience in the tech and security industries. Previously, he held the role as Global Head of Service Operations at security giant Giesecke+Devrient. In this capacity, he was responsible for delivering its mobile security OTA services, such as mobile payments, eSIM/SIM Management and identity solutions used by millions of end consumers.
“City Network has a unique cloud offering that combines compliance and security with a European focus, and it is enabling everyone to use the cloud, thereby accelerating the digital transformation of entire industries. I am excited to be part of this movement and am thrilled to join the company,” says Kinh Luan Nguyen.
