City Network, a leading provider of infrastructure-as-a-service (IaaS) based on OpenStack, today announced the acquisition of hastexo, an independent professional services organization specializing in open source solutions for cloud computing, distributed storage, and self-paced on-line training. The move is a direct continuation of City Network’s strategy to build and strengthen its services and education portfolio around OpenStack, Ceph, containers, high availability, and infrastructure.
Based in Austria with consultants in India and Brazil, the highly experienced hastexo team and their open source training platform will be integrated into City Network and its City Cloud IaaS operation. This enables City Network customers to get a head start on deploying open and flexible IT infrastructure, and to take advantage of the hands-on training platform for rapid upskilling and efficient technology adoption.
“Today, speed and agility in innovation and deployments are key priorities for almost all organizations, and to enable this, development and operations need to work closely together to automate the process and ensure quality,” said Johan Christenson, CEO and founder of City Network. “To be successful in this process requires an open, flexible and scalable IT infrastructure. With hastexo’s dedicated training platform and professional services, we will further enhance our capabilities in helping organizations make this transformation.”
Through professional services and its training platform, hastexo is heavily involved in the OpenStack, Ceph, and Open edX communities. In 2015, the company launched the world’s first self-guided interactive training platform for scalable, distributed IT systems, hastexo Academy (built on top of Open edX and OpenStack). hastexo Academy redefines professional education by allowing learners to master arbitrarily complex technology in realistic live environments, any time, any place, and without the need for complex hardware or instructors.
hastexo’s professional training platform will be a key part in City Networks IaaS offer City Cloud, especially focusing on training and upskilling of its cloud operators and developers. Furthermore, City Network will meet private and public cloud customers’ educational demands with customized training services, in direct continuation of the services hastexo has been providing, with great success, to customers across the globe.
“My team and I are all multi-year contributors to the OpenStack, Ceph, and Open edX communities, and us becoming part of City Network means that as a global organization, we can help those communities grow even faster,” said hastexo CEO Florian Haas, who is joining City Network’s executive team as VP of Professional Services and Education. “We’re thrilled to join the City Network organization and to help more companies leverage the advantages of an open infrastructure.”
