The European cloud company Cleura is entering the Norwegian market to meet businesses’ needs for European cloud services. Cleura, founded in Sweden and operating in several European countries, offers digital infrastructure services with full automation, developed and operated in data centers in Europe. Cleura’s services thus meet the needs of businesses for a cloud to be able to innovate without compromising data protection.

The service offering, which will be sold both directly to Norwegian businesses and through the owner company Iver, consists of Cleura Public Cloud, Cleura Private Cloud and Cleura Compliant Cloud – IT infrastructure services designed to manage business-critical applications and data.

Meets Norwegian businesses’ need for alternatives to US clouds.

– There is a great demand for European cloud services, and we see a great potential in bringing Cleura to Norway. Not least after the Norwegian Data Protection Authority pointed out the need for an exit strategy from American technology. It is clear that many companies are now looking into how they can develop a plan B, says André Hansen, Chief Commercial Officer at Cleura

 – With 15 years of experience in providing open source-based cloud services for digital infrastructure, it is Cleura’s goal to be an important component of the future strategy in Norway. At the same time, we create the conditions for businesses to work with innovation without compromising digital privacy,” continues André Hansen

Data protection, sustainability, and open source in focus.

Cleura is a European company. The services are operated, developed and maintained by staff in the EU in accordance with European legislation, based on the GDPR. The service enables sustainable digitalization, operating in data centers that use only green electricity and meet the highest industry standards for energy efficiency and sustainability.

The services are built on OpenStack, which is based on open source, a choice that more and more companies and organizations are using today. Unlike proprietary solutions, open source cloud services ensure that organizations avoid lock-in effects to specific vendors. They also provide a higher degree of control over costs, code and service development.

Cleura is part of Iver’s cloud offering

In Norway, Cleura’s cloud services will be available as part of Iver’s cloud offering:

– “The cloud is an obvious delivery platform where businesses are digitized. Now that Norwegian authorities have pointed out the need for a strategy to be able to leave American cloud services, we are pleased to increase the focus on Cleura’s European cloud services as an important part of our offering,” says Ketil Augustson, Head of Iver Norway.

Many large businesses in industry, healthcare, government, and defense rely on Cleura’s cloud services to run their operations. Likewise, many innovative tech companies use Cleura as a base for innovation. The AI company boost.ai is a recent example of an innovator that describes Cleura’s digital infrastructure and data sovereignty guarantees as crucial to its growth in certain industries.

Rapid developments in AI and a more uncertain world are increasing the demand for secure cloud services that comply with European data laws. This is driving demand for Cleura’s solutions and we look forward to contributing to robust digitalization in Norway,” concludes André Hansen.
