Today, the leading European cloud City Network and the enterprise integration and automation platform as a service (iPaaS) Frends, owned by HiQ, announced a strategic partnership. The two companies jointly provide the only Nordic integration and automation platform for a hybrid IT environment that offers secure and compliant data management. The service targets organizations within the public and private sectors looking for an integration and automation platform that ensures strict adherence to European data laws and regulations.

“We are delighted about this partnership with Frends. Automatically integrating different data streams is crucial for succeeding with the digital transformation. However, the process often puts heavy pressure on regulatory compliance. With Frends running on our compliant cloud services, we eliminate uncertainties in regulatory compliance and allow customers to make the most out of their data. Ultimately providing better services for both customers and citizens”, says Johan Christenson, founder of City Network and VP Innovation.

Frends, developed in Finland with customers across the Nordics and Germany, is a European enterprise application integration platform that enables customers to integrate applications in the cloud and on-premise in one single user panel. Especially the public sector, with on-going digitalization of citizen services and legal demands on providing APIs, is a significant customer segment for Frends. Frends is developed, operated and marketed as part of HiQ.

“Ever since we launched Frends, municipalities and other public sector organizations have been using our service as part of their digital journey. With the City Network partnership, we now take the next step in enabling the digital transformation for these organizations. They can now use Frends with fully built-in compliance as a cloud service, enabling efficient and automated API management without risking data integrity”, says Kristoffer Lundegren, country manager at Frends in Sweden.

Following GDPR, the US Cloud Act, and Schrems II, which disqualifies the current data management agreement between the EU and the US, public and private space customers are increasingly looking for European and regulatory compliant services. As a European digital infrastructure provider, City Network has built the European cloud and met the massive need for compliant infrastructure services. The company provides its public and Compliant Cloud services for industries operating under specific regulations.

“Given this development, all cloud-based services are affected. This partnership is an excellent example of how infrastructure and tailored services can work hand in hand and provide better customer benefits. At the same time, we are jointly building new and stronger European digital entities”, Johan Christenson concludes.
