City Network, a leading global public cloud provider, is launching City Cloud Academy. The training program will initially comprise of five self-tuition courses aimed primarily at developers and system administrators. For example, a course in container orchestration will be offered within the framework of the Magnum OpenStack project. The aim of the courses is to enable more organizations to leverage an open IT infrastructure to increase scalability and the pace of innovation in their organizations. Under the umbrella of City Cloud Academy, the company will also carry out customized on-site training classes on customer premises.
“Interest in transitioning to an open source-based infrastructure-as-a-service platform is currently greater than ever! Every day there are examples of companies taking the step. There are also many companies that want to capitalize on the greater flexibility and scalability that cloud services offer but have not yet made the switch. Many times due to lack of knowledge or insight in what is required in a multi-cloud world. This is where we want to act as a catalyst and share the know-how that we have accumulated. That is why I am delighted that we are launching City Cloud Academy,” says Johan Christenson, CEO and founder of City Network.
City Network has been involved in the OpenStack project for a number of years. Over the past year, the company has further consolidated its position in the open source world by making several strategic recruitments and through its position on the board of the OpenStack Foundation. The company’s cloud service, City Cloud, is fully based on OpenStack and is an established service in the European market. City Cloud offers not only a global public cloud but also a a cloud for regulatory sensitive enterprises – called “Compliant Cloud”.
In City Cloud Academy, City Network gather all of its competence and offer this in bundled training courses for self-tuition. In addition, the company offers customized courses for companies that wish to gain further expertise in the area.
City Cloud Academy is available to existing customers and other organizations that want to learn more about the area. Initially, City Cloud Academy offer the following courses:
OpenStack API and CLI fundamentals
OpenStack deployment and operations
Advanced OpenStack orchestration
Ceph distributed storage fundamentals
Container orchestration with OpenStack Magnum
“It’s incredibly inspiring to see the innovative drive that is created in the organizations that have embraced open IT infrastructure. We are determined to ensure that more companies can reap the benefits of open source and the cloud. It is a requirement to transform their businesses,” concludes Johan Christenson.
