Cleura Compliant Cloud

Cleura Compliant Cloud is a robust and secure IaaS operating within the EU. It delivers scalable and future-proof cloud computing power for mission-critical applications, solutions, and systems.

Cleura Compliant Cloud is based on open source technology, giving organizations with high security and regulatory demands the freedom to innovate without vendor lock-in. Cleura provides this digital infrastructure from data centers in the Stockholm area, with multiple availability zones.

How is Cleura Compliant Cloud built?

Cleura Compliant Cloud’s technical design stands out with restricted tenant access, an enhanced security architecture, and availability zones. It is the cloud of choice for organizations with especially high continuity requirements in the delivery of their services.

Overview of the building blocks

Data centers

Cleura only chooses data center partners with strict physical access controls, and which are certified according to ISO 27001, the internationally recognized standard for information security. In addition, we only select data centers which meet the Swedish Civil Contingency Agency’s (MSB) description of a data center with Protection Class 3 (Skyddsnivå 3) according to MSB629.

Hardware

All the physical hardware that makes up Cleura Compliant Cloud is locked in private cages within each data center.

Hypervisor

Cleura Compliant Cloud uses KVM (Kernel-based Virtual Machine), It is an open-source virtualization technology built into the Linux kernel. KVM enables a single physical machine to run multiple virtual machines, each with its own OS and resources. KVM is efficient, secure, and widely used in cloud and enterprise environments.

Cloud Operating System

Cleura Compliant Cloud is built using OpenStack, one of the largest and most active open source projects in the world. OpenStack is the open source cloud computing standard to support virtual machines, containers and bare metal workloads.

Where is Cleura Compliant Cloud available?

Cleura Compliant Cloud is available to all organizations with high compliance requirements. It is provided with and without availability zones, from cloud regions in Stockholm.

Cleura Compliant Cloud

The first generation of Cleura Compliant Cloud is available from two data centers in Stockholm. Users can deploy and control cloud services in either or both data centers using a web interface and API endpoints.

Cleura Compliant Cloud with availability zones

The new generation of Cleura Compliant Cloud appears to customers as one Stockholm based cloud region, while offering three separate availability zones. Each availability zone is provided from a different data center with its own redundant power, networking, and connectivity. This enables provision of highly redundant services with superior continuity. This enables deployment and operations of applications and databases with greater continuity and scalability than one or two data centers could ever provide. High availability is essential when providing mission-critical applications and can help an organization meet continuity and resiliency requirements under NIS2 and DORA.

How does availability zones work?

In the new generation Cleura Compliant Cloud data center region, all three availability zones are interconnected by high-bandwidth, fully redundant, low-latency fiber networks. This ensures your workloads can seamlessly shift between availability zones without compromising performance.

This infrastructure allows your organization to maintain your cloud environment with minimal service disruption and provides the foundation for highly redundant services and applications. The new generation of Cleura Compliant Cloud enables businesses to benefit from higher availability, reduced latency, and robust fault tolerance by distributing workloads across multiple availability zones.

What is the benefit of using availability zones?

Your applications can be deployed across availability zones so that even if one availability zone falters, or your application deployed in one availability zone exhibits differences compared to the other two, the remaining two availability zones remain in sync and can continue to provide your application seamlessly.

Running applications across multiple availability zones enhances scalability, improves uptime for mission-critical workloads, and delivers uninterrupted services to end-users.

Which features does Cleura Compliant Cloud offer?

Fundamental cloud computing features

Virtual machines

Cloud storage

Cloud storage in Cleura Compliant Cloud includes a variety of services tailored to specific data storage needs.

Block storage

Designed for storing structured data, such as files and application data, block storage offers consistent performance and predictable latency.

Block storage performance and latency are optimized for application access, offering consistent and predictable performance for the virtual machine it is connected to. By using its scalability features you can allow multiple applications from multiple clients to access the data. Block storage is the primary choice for storing application data tightly connected to a virtual machine, ideal for scenarios requiring frequent access, low latency, and scalability.

Low-latency Disk

Low-latency disk is a storage system that minimizes the delay between a data request and its retrieval. This resource is optimized for applications that require fast and responsive access to data by reducing the time it takes to read or write data, enhancing overall system performance. Low-latency disk is more expensive than generic storage.

Object storage

Ideal for storing unstructured data, such as images, videos, and documents. Object storage provides scalability and durability for large datasets.

Cleura’s object storage service offers an efficient API access mechanism and a high level of scalability. You can create buckets (containers) and storage objects, as well as manage bucket and object policies.

Snapshots

Snapshots capture a point-in-time copy of data, allowing for quick recovery from accidental deletions or data corruption.

Disaster recovery

Disaster recovery backup images for restoring data and resuming operations in the event of a major disaster.

Data replication

Data stored in object storage can be replicated across multiple data centers or regions to safeguard against physical hardware failures or regional disruptions.

Cloud Networking

Floating IP

Floating IP provides a public IP address. The defined public IP address enables a connection to a virtual network map of the user resources in Cleura Compliant Cloud from and to the Internet, or user defined networks.

Load balancer

The load balancer is a service that automatically distributes traffic on multiple cloud servers and balances loads. Furthermore, the load balancer allows for integration into auto-scaling.

Software defined networking
  • Load balancer
  • VPNaaS (VPN as a Service) with limitations outside site-to-site configurations
  • Virtual networks
  • Virtual routers
  • Security groups
  • Provider network

Block storage tiers

Cleura Compliant Cloud offers three block storage tiers for dynamic assignment of IOPS. This allows users to find a perfect balance between performance and cost for all of their storage needs.

Standard

Our standard block storage tier assigns 50 IOPS per GB of storage space dynamically, and ranges from 500 to 8 000 IOPS. This tier is suitable for general-purpose workloads and applications.

Premium

The premium block storage tier assigns 100 IOPS per GB of storage, and ranges from 3 000 to 16 000 IOPS. This tier is designed for more active data and frequently accessed applications. This might include databases with steady workloads, or application servers that have higher IOPS requirements.

Low latency

Our low-latency tier offers 40 000 IOPS across the board and is geared toward high-performance, latency-sensitive operations. This tier is ideal for transaction-heavy databases with a lot of read and write operations.
